Reading ruler option

Reading Ruler

The reading ruler is to assist you with reading the website. The ruler will follow the movements of your mouse cursor, covering the space above and below to make it easier to read one line at a time.

Screen reader

Screen Reader

For blind and visually impaired users we recommend NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access), a free "screen reader" application which reads the text on the screen in a computerised voice. This tool can be used on a variety of different programmes on your computer - not just your web browser or the Smartcare website.

You can control what is read to you by moving the cursor to the relevant area of text with a mouse or the arrows on your keyboard.

Click on the screen reader icon on the tool bar for more information and a link to download the programme on to your computer.

Clinic Apps

With ADL Smartcare’s Clinic Expert Knowledge Apps, a subscribing organisation can introduce a scalable method of assessment, using less expensive resources to provide a consistent, professional assessment for a wide range of areas of need. Clinic based assessments can effectively manage demand and are considerably more cost effective than traditional home visits.

Features of the Clinic Expert Knowledge Apps

  1. Access to assessments for a variety of needs including bathing, toileting, mobility, stairs, telecare, sensory impairment and much more.
  2. Access to assessment analysis allowing staff to understand when a solution isn’t suitable.
  3. User administration and case notes.
  4. Printable measurement booklets to allow details from the home environment to be captured.
  5. Provision of equipment solutions using ADL Smartcare’s unique knowledge.
  6. Embedded Product specifications to ensure suitability and reduce potential liability.

As part of the implementation of the Clinic Expert Knowledge Apps we include your local solutions and outcomes so that these are shown following an assessment. By providing details of your stores equipment, we can ensure that the specific equipment available from your service is made available following an assessment, allowing staff to confidently issue stores equipment, and identify where specialist solutions may be required.

Real time monitoring reports are provided as part of this package. These reports give details of the quantity and Level of assessment, and can be filtered by individual staff member or Clinic area. With the option to process orders for equipment via the Clinic Expert Knowledge Apps, you can also access insight about products issued.

  • A Professional assessment tool to be used in a clinic environment or through remote access. In a clinic environment a number of service users are invited into a clinic location to be assessed using the tool.
  • Clinic administration - An administration team can enter service users details prior to a clinic, organise clinics dates, locations and the professionals who will host the clinic.
  • Measurement booklet administration - An administration team can print and enter any required environmental measurements prior to a clinic, so when the assessment takes place these questions are auto populated.
  • Assessment management - Clinic assessments and self-assessments taking place on the platform can be monitored, analysed and continued from a dedicated secure area.
  • Forms - Standard or bespoke forms can be auto populated from the data collected during an assessment.
  • Stores order - A simple stores collection system enables any orders from the Clinic assessment to be received and actioned.
  • Reporting - Management can access live information reports on clinic usage across the service.
  • Helps prevent over prescribing of equipment and enables staff to assess in areas outside of their knowledge.
  • Members of public feel fully involved in the process as they go through each question.
  • Less experienced staff can learn through the process as it like sitting alongside a trained OT for every assessment.

There are a number of Expert Advice Apps available for Self-Help assessment which allow users to tap into the expert knowledge embedded within the apps to find solutions appropriate for both the user and their environment.
